VDC Dance Competition Teams Auditions!

*Mini 4 – 6 (With 2 years of dance ability)
**Petite 7-9
***Juniors 10 +
****Teens/Seniors 10+
*****Introducing: Virtuous Technique Program (VTP Dancers)-these groups of dancers don’t compete but will train intensively with company dancers and director for the season so they will be ready for the following competition season. These dancers ages will range from 4-18 but they will take class with the company they are closest to. They will also have multiple performance opportunity throughout the year and will be invited to all company events.

$250 Deposit per dancer.
This will help cover upcoming cost for convention and competitions. If you’re child does not make the competition team you will have a $200.00 credit on your account for classes.

What to EXPECT?
Dancers should arrive 30 minutes early so they can sign in, warm up, stretch and receive their audition number. They will then go through a normal class to see their technical ability. The class will consist of Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary elements. After that, they will move into choreography. They will be taught a Jazz combination and a Contemporary combination close to the style in which we compete with. If they have any special skills, they’ll be asked to show those at this moment. They will be broken into groups of 2/3 and asked to demonstrate what they have learned and then they will be placed into the company.

How will I know if I made the team?
We will be sending out emails with class levels, company acceptance and company placements within 48 hours after the audition.

Company Expectations
Company Dancers and VTP Dancers are required to take 2 Ballet classes, Jazz, Contemporary, Leaps and Turns, Company Class and Production (Mini’s and Petite Dancers are not required to take Production or Leaps and Turns. Mini’s, based on ability, may be allowed to join the leaps and turns class with permission from Competitive Director or Studio Owner.)
Not required but recommended: Acro, a second jazz class and tap.

Company Fee’s will be sent in a private email only to those who have been accepted into a company.
While dance is an extracurricular activity, we do expect our dancers to make this a priority. There is a time commitment that must be adhered to. Please speak with your dancer so that they understand that traveling to competitions and competing will become a big part of their life and they miss out on birthday parties, school events and so on. BUT ITS ALL WORTH IT!

*Please plan to stay the entire time however, you may be excused at any moment. Mini and Petite will be dismissed no later than 3:45p.m. Bring water!

*Companies are based by ability and age. The ages are suggestions but accommodations may be made based on ability.
